Tourism Brings a Record $351 Million to Oceanside in 2017

Tourism continues on an upward trend in Oceanside, mirroring recent trends reported by Visit California. There has been a consistent increase in visitors, travel spending and travel industry employment over the last seven years with 2017 reaching record highs in Oceanside. According to the most recent study by Dean Runyan Associates, visitor spending in Oceanside in 2017 was $351 million, representing a 10.1 percent increase from 2016. The visitor spending directly supported more than 3,300 jobs in Oceanside with tourism industry employment in the city increasing at an average annual rate of 5.1 percent since 2010.

Visit Oceanside Advertising Campaign Receives Top Industry Award

Visit Oceanside (VO) took home top honors for its latest branding campaign at the recent ADDY Awards, the San Diego advertising community’s top creative recognition event. Featuring the unique people, places and events that give Oceanside its one-of-a-kind personality, VO’s “Respect the O’riginals” print and cross platform campaigns both received Gold, the event’s highest award, while the “O’riginal O’siders” video series earned a Bronze in the category of Film, Video and Sounds.

A Collectors Brew- Greetings from Oceanside

Visit Oceanside has partnered with Midnight Jack Brewing Company for an inaugural Oceanside brewery collaboration project. This special campaign includes a custom beer recipe highlighting the distinctive flavors of the region and a colorful custom label, capturing the unique personality of the city. Greetings from Oceanside is a limited release brew available in a collector’s can and on draft at select Oceanside restaurants, tap rooms, and hotels.

Visit Oceanside unveiled its 2017 branding campaign “O’riginal O’siders” at the 7th Annual Oceanside Tourism Summit held on April 18th at the city’s historic Star Theatre. Using words such as authentic, real, inventive, free-spirited and unorthodox, the campaign will focus on the unique people, places and events that give Oceanside its one-of-a-kind personality. Awards were also shared with industry partners that stood out and supported local tourism efforts over the past year.
