With summer unofficially beginning on Memorial Day weekend, we are excited for everything taking place right here in Oceanside this June (with a few honorable mentions happening around San Diego County). The event calendar is nearly bursting at the seams with family-friendly, musically-inspired, cultural, and outdoor activities so we’ve highlighted 12 events to give you a taste of what you can experience during your next June trip to O’side. What: Get ready for treats that will tempt all of your senses at the 2018 San Diego County Fair presented by Albertsons/Vons. ‘How Sweet It Is’ was unanimously chosen as the theme for the 2018 San Diego County Fair, the largest annual event in San Diego County and one of the 10 largest fairs in North America with more than 1.6 million visitors annually. You’ll leave the ordinary world behind the minute you step into this magical sweet spot overflowing with opportunities to truly savor summer with the excitement of a wide-eyed kid. Whether it’s sampling chocolate bubbling from a fountain, soaking up the glittery ocean views from atop the Ferris wheel, discovering how nature’s sweet fruits grow and ripen, or enjoying the Fair’s golden-ticket entertainment, your toughest decision will be choosing what to indulge in first!

What: The First Friday: Oceanside Art Walk will be celebrating the beginning of the summer season and the thriving arts and culture scene in the heart of downtown Oceanside. This event will showcase live performances, music, poetry, art education, and culinary and pop-up art galleries showcased in local businesses and public spaces. Admission is free and open to the public, and admission into the Oceanside Museum of Art is half-priced during the Art Walk so come on out!

What: The highly anticipated Agritourism Documentary funded by the County of San Diego’s Board of Supervisors 2017-2018 Community Enhancement Grant will be premiered at the Brooks Theatre in downtown Oceanside. This documentary features interviews with musician and local farm owner Jason Mraz, Eric Larson from the San Diego County Farm Bureau, several local farmers, City of Oceanside staff, Restaurateurs, Chefs and more. This documentary focuses on the importance of having sustainable farmland in the local community, and highlights existing Agritourism experiences throughout North County San Diego such as Myrtle Creek, Bates Nut Farm, Cyclops Farms, Beach House Winery, Carlsbad Strawberry Company, State Street Farmers Market in Carlsbad Village and the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. This event will also include a musical performance by Barnwell Shift, complimentary appetizers and beverages, as well as several guest speakers including Oceanside Mayor Peter Weiss, and San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn.

What: The Annual Filipino Cultural Celebration will take place on Saturday, June 9, marking the 17-year partnership between the Filipino-American Cultural Organization (FACO), the Oceanside Public Library, and Friends of the Oceanside Public Library. The celebration will offer attendees a day filled with Philippine dancing and music, colorful costumes, special performances, and delicious Filipino and international cuisine. In addition there will be crafts and activities for children in the courtyard of the Civic Center Library Community Rooms from noon to 5pm. Event admission is FREE and open to the public.

What: The Annual Inter-Tribal Powwow at the San Luis Rey Mission is here! This two day event takes place Saturday and Sunday and includes arts and crafts booths, food vendors, tribal music and dancing, and more.

What: Oceanside welcomes the return of the Marine Corps Mud Run on Camp Pendleton. The Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Mud Run ® is the world’s dirtiest party featuring challenging 10K and 5K runs with rolling hills, river crossings, two 5-foot walls, three massive mud pits, tunnels, slippery hill, a cargo climb and much more! Enjoy food, live music, muddy merchants, family fun activities, beer, Marine Corps displays and the Mud Run Store.

What: The Surfing America USA Championships brings the best surfers and stand-up paddlers from across the country for competition and includes longboard, SUP and adaptive divisions. Sponsored by Surfing America, Inc. Surfing America is the IOC-recognized National Governing Body for the sport of surfing in the USA. Surfing America is responsible for holding the USA Championships each year and for selecting the official USA Surf Team to compete internationally.

What: Visit Oceanside welcomes the return of Race Across the West (RAW) and Race Across America (RAAM)! Come show your Oceanside spirit by cheering on the start of these endurance racers! RAAM is one of the most respected and longest running endurance sports events in the world, where racers must traverse 3,000 miles across 12 states. RAW is one of the world’s top RAAM qualifying events, taking place from Oceanside, CA to Durango, CO – 860 miles across the rugged American West. Both the RAAM and RAW racers are on the course at the same time making it a perfect way to see how you might do racing RAAM. June 12: Race begins for RAAM solo riders and all RAW participants. June 16: Race begins for RAAM team riders.

What: This months South O Walkabout theme is Father’s Day & Family Picnic Fun! The locally organized South O Walkabout is a monthly walking event that showcases our localvore beach community, unique shops and restaurants. This monthly event encourages walkers to discover the unique shopping and dining experiences offered in South Oceanside. So come eat, drink, shop, and Walk; Good Vibes only! The Walkabout footprint is the shopping district in South O. On the south end it starts at Urge Gastropub and extends north to the Privateer on Whaley St. The easy walk is about .4 miles each way.

What: Come to Oceanside’s Rancho Del Oro Park to enjoy a FREE family friendly summertime concert. On June 15th The Mar Dels will be performing with the pre-show beginning at 5pm.

What: Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks and enjoy a movie under the stars at the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater (south of the Oceanside Pier). The June summer Movie at the Pier will feature Despicable Me 3 and will begin at sunset (approximately 7:45pm).

What: Come enjoy Oceanside’s annual Independence Parade as it makes it way north on Coast Highway from Wisconsin Avenue to Civic Center Drive (just past City Hall). This year three “Hometown Heroes” will be honored, including former Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood. Come see floats, bands, walking groups, cool cars and much more as we pay tribute to our nation, Hometown Heroes, our city and our local businesses. Viewing of the parade is available from the sidewalks along the entire route. Spectators are encouraged to bring folding chairs. The highest concentration of viewers will be on the north end of the route past Seagaze Avenue. Running time from beginning to end is about two hours.

- The parade starts in front of the 101 Cafe (Coast Highway at Wisconsin Avenue) at 10:00 am and works its way north with the first unit of the parade reaching City Hall around 10:15 am.
