O’side Feast, held May 2017, was the ultimate farm-to-table experience in the beautiful agricultural neighborhood of South Morro Hills in Oceanside, CA. Amid the stunning rolling hills and farm backdrop, guests sampled fare from Oceanside’s hottest local chefs, brewers and winemakers. Live music and entertainment was performed by Barnwall Shift, along with farm stands showcasing locally grown produce and gourmet products.
During the event, guests had the opportunity to learn about Oceanside’s vision for agritourism, an initiative to preserve farmland and to support a farm-to-table, table-to-farm sustainable food system in our community. This was a groundbreaking event supporting Oceanside’s agricultural heritage.
Admission included ten tapas style culinary creations, libation experiences from beverage vendors, O’side Feast souvenir tasting glass and fork, and a reusable Green Oceanside Bag for shopping at the Mercato. Open to guests 21 and older.
CBS 8 San Diego Interview
On May 5, 2017 Jason Mraz sat down with CBS 8 San Diego reporter Jeff Zevely, during the Zevely Zone segment, to discuss Oceanside farming, agritourism, composting, and the sold out O’side Feast.
In this fun interview, Jason takes us on a tour of Mraz Family Farms and discusses how he envisions the South Morro Hills community growing, embracing agritourism efforts, and preserving the agricultural spaces that currently exist.
Make sure to watch the entire segment because at minute 2:38 Jason sings a catchy tune about composting. You’ll be singing along in no time! View complete interview.
Sips and Nibbles
The Oceanside dining scene is making headlines because of all of the unique flavors and artisan creations. A staple within this movement is the use of locally sourced produce that is changing the way we experience food. A handful of local restaurants and libation vendors were invited to participate in the tasting portion of O’side Feast; each selected because of the unique way they incorporated local produce into their menus. All of our restaurant participants were given the exciting challenge to prepare as much of their event menu items with resources grown in South Morro Hills and to have as close to zero waste as possible during the food preparation.
