Kids Free October is back! This month long celebration invites you to experience some of Oceanside and San Diego County’s best attractions, tours, museums and more at discounted rates. Christmas is only weeks away and the celebrations are underway. Mark your calendar to attend the annual Oceanside Harbor Parade of Lights. At this fun event, you will see boats of all shapes and sizes decorated in their finest holiday attire, including lights, ornaments, and lots of holiday trimmings. Not only are the boats decorated, but you might just find some captains dressed in their holiday best as well.

4th Grade Field Trip to the Mission

Every year thousands of 4th graders make their way to one of the 21 missions laced throughout California to learn about the state’s early history, settlement, indigenous people and more. Oceanside is home to the “King of the Missions” Old Mission San Luis Rey, the largest of the 21 California Missions which offers the following full featured 4th grade field trip experience complete with presentations, tours, a scavenger hunt and more!

With Oceanside’s close proximity to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, our community has a unique connection to the United States Military as well as a profound respect for the service-members and their families. This summer, the California Surf Museum and Oceanside Museum of Art are housing new exhibits that highlight distinct perspectives of military personnel and the different processes of healing they go through to overcome their physical and emotional wounds from combat.
