10 Awesome Oceanside Events This April
As the weather continues to heat up and the hills become covered in blooming flowers, Oceanside welcomes you with open arms offering a variety of things to do to make your trip a memorable one! This month some of Oceanside’s most famous events are back, offering a fantastic opportunity for all ages to witness something special and participate in the festivities! Events include the iconic IRONMAN traithlon, Harbor Wine Cruise, Egg Hunt’s, the popular First Friday: Art Walk and much more! April really is a special time to visit and experience all that Oceanside has to offer.

What: IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside is back, promising an exciting day of racing on the intense 70.3 mile course. Prior to the main event on Saturday, the IRONKIDS Oceanside Fun Run will be held for ages 3-13. The race distance options include 1 mile and a 1/2 mile, which can be chosen on race day. The price for each participating racer is $20, and parents, family and friends are all invited to come and cheer on their little racers and enjoy the festivities. What: Celebrate the thriving arts and culture scene in the heart of downtown Oceanside. Art Walk will also showcase live performances, music, poetry, art education, and culinary and pop-up art galleries showcased in local businesses and public spaces. Admission is free and open to the public, and admission into the Oceanside Museum of Art is half-priced during the Art Walk.

What: Athletes from around the world come to Oceanside for the annual IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon. The course consists of a 1.2 mile swim in the Pacific Ocean, 56 mile bike loop through Camp Pendleton, and 13.1 mile run along Oceanside’s coast. Everyone is welcome to cheer on the athletes as they complete this intense course!

What: Join Oceanside Adventures and Beach House Winery on the first Saturday of every month for a 90-minute evening cruise aboard a luxurious catamaran through the beautiful Oceanside Harbor. The cruise features an appetizer platter and three tastes of wines from Beach House Winery. Cost is $39 per person, 21 and over.

What: The Mission Branch Library is hosting a fun Spring Egg hunt and storytime for children ages 0-7. Children will get to meet the Springtime Bunny, listen to stories, sing songs, and enjoy an egg hunt with non-food treats! Two programs will be offered, one in English from 10:30am – 11:30am, and one in Spanish from 11:30am – 12:30pm.

What: The Oceanside Jazz Festival consists of educational and performance opportunities for school and community jazz bands and choirs, and featured concerts by internationally recognized performing artists. 36+ school choirs will perform at MiraCosta Concert Hall stage on Friday & Saturday! What: Grab your family and friends for North County’s largest Earth Day celebration in downtown Oceanside! Earth Festival is a free event with fun and exciting attractions for everyone including live music from local bands! This festival will also include environmental education, product vendors, and a Kids-Eco Zone where children will be inspired by our local environment to save water, recycle right, and enjoy the great outdoors.

What: What’s better than an organic farm? An organic farm with an ocean view! You’ll start your day at the home of Carlsbad’s artisan bakery, Prager Brothers Artisan Breads. You’ll tour the bakery with one of the Prager brothers! Learn about their sourcing, commitment to quality and old world bread-making from the pros! After your tour you’ll sample some of their fresh baked goods and a cup of locally roasted coffee from Steady State Coffee Roasters. Then you will be taken through the fields of Cyclops Farms here in Oceanside while learning about Farmer Luke’s farming philosophy and tasting some of the seasonal bounty. After the farm tour the group will head to local restaurant Wrench & Rodent, during this time Chef Davin will discuss his no-waste cooking style, his partnership with Cyclops Farms and his seasonal offerings from locally sourced seafood and produce. Finally, end the day learning about the world’s oldest beverage while sipping on a mead flight from the pros at Golden Coast Mead! Golden Coast Mead will also discuss their commitment to our environment, the future of our bees as well as their commitment to our community as a whole.

What: The In Your Neighborhood w/ Lou Niles Block Party returns to Oceanside! From noon to 8pm the day will be filled with music and a festival of local businesses in the parking lot. The event is for all ages and is FREE. Music acts include The Paragraphs, Western Setting, Montalban Quintet, Mistress 77, Parker Meridien, Cheyenne Benton and the El Camino High School Jazz Quintet with more music and festival supporters to be announced.
