Beaches

Oceanside’s beaches are beautifully kept, coastal stretches for you to enjoy. With that in mind, pets are not allowed to join you on O’side beaches or while walking on the pier. However, if you’re longing to still enjoy quality time with your pet while taking in a beach view, you can walk your dog with a leash along The Strand – a boardwalk-type pathway that travels over a mile parallel to the ocean! If your dog likes to get wet in the water or play in the sand, a trip to neighboring beaches such as Cardiff State Beach, Del Mar’s Dog Beach or South Beach, Mission Bay’s Fiesta Island or Ocean Beach, will give you the opportunity to let them take part in some beach fun.

Harbor

Oceanside Harbor is quietly tucked away from the unsuspecting individual. As you drive into the harbor and discover rows of docked sailboats, see people gliding by on top of paddleboards, and the array of restaurants and shops, you quickly realize that you have stumbled upon a true hidden gem. Not only are you going to love this neighborhood in Oceanside, but your four-legged friend will too! With miles of sidewalk rounding the harbor, your pups will have a lot to sniff out and explore. Pack a picnic and lay out with your doggie, or log some miles on an epic run!

Farmer's Market

Every Thursday Oceanside hosts a morning Farmers Market from 9am to 1pm in downtown Oceanside. There you’ll find a bustling hub of O’siders and guests enjoying the incredible local vendors, fresh foods, and overall family-friendly atmosphere. Best of all, your furry companion is welcome to enjoy the festivities with you as you get your weekly shopping done!

Trails

Oceanside has plenty of trail and hiking opportunities and your pup is welcome to join you on a leash at several of those locations. The San Luis Rey River Trail is a great place to walk your dog. With a trail totaling 9 miles with mostly flat and smooth ground, this is a local favorite. Guajome Park is another place that invites you to walk your leashed dog with 4.5 miles of low traffic trails at your disposal.

Golf Courses

Take your doggie for a round of golf. One of the more unique spots in Oceanside you can take your dog to is the Emerald Isle Golf Course located off El Camino Real. Here you can enjoy the 2,452-yard 18-hole course, the practice putting and chipping green, the all-grass driving range, and the Emerald Isle Grill made-to-order restaurant. Arrowood Golf Course is another wonderful course with a 6,721-yard layout embedded in the Arrowood community. Panoramic views abound and open spaces for you and your dog to play.
