O’side is easy to explore, and the gateway city between metropolitan San Diego and Los Angeles.
Â
Oceanside is located just 38 miles north of downtown San Diego. We’re also 50 miles south of Orange County and 100 miles south of Los Angeles. Directly south of us you’ll find the City of Carlsbad, and to the north, the long open stretch of the U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. We’re proud of the way these diverse influences have long shaped the O’side character. And given our central location and wealth of transportation options, it’s easy to explore both O’side and our surrounding neighbors during your stay.
Whether you roll, ride, or fly, O’side’s easy to reach and explore. As the northernmost city in San Diego County, we’re easily accessible by car, bus, plane, or even train from a range of locations.
There are plenty of options when it comes to flying into your O’side adventure. San Diego International Airport is just under 40 miles away—about a 45-minute drive to Oceanside. From the north, John Wayne Airport is 50 miles away, and LAX is under 100 miles. Even better, just 10 miles south in Carlsbad, McClellan-Palomar Airport now offers convenient flights to select destinations—perfect for those who want to touch down closer to the coast.
Getting to Oceanside by train is as easy as it is scenic. With four different rail lines along the coast, you can sit back, relax, and let the tracks lead you straight to the heart of O’side—just steps from the sand.
