Looking for great activities to do when it’s raining in Oceanside? Despite Southern California’s reputation for having some of the best year-round weather in the world, it does on occasion rain in Oceanside to give a brief break from the otherwise shinning sun and 70 degree weather. When that happens, as rare as it can be, don’t fret there are plenty of activities you can still enjoy including indoor rock climbing, indoor skydiving, treasure hunting and more!
Don’t let the cold and rain stop you from breaking a sweat! Hunt for Treasures
Sea Hive Marketplace is the perfect place to take shelter from the rain with their massive selection of unique and rare treasures filling every nook and cranny! Much of the store is broken down into booths or sections so the selection stays fresh and exciting as you get deeper into the massive store. Due to the Sea Hive Marketplace’s size and dense selection don’t be surprised if by the time you leave the rain is long gone!
Yes you read that right! Oceanside is home to the only indoor skydiving location in North San Diego County. iFly Oceanside offers the unforgettable experience of flight without the requirement of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, or even good weather! Centered around a giant vertical wind tunnel, fans will propel your body off of the ground so that you’re floating in mid-air. Instructors will guide you on how to remain stable in flight, and even turn or do tricks depending on your skill level! For the extra adventurous there is even a virtual reality option where you trade in your open helmet for a closed helmet that features a VR system that will transport you to incredible skydiving locations across the world!
Do Something Educational and Fun
Perfect rain or shine, Oceanside is home to a variety of museums and cultural venues that give you an opportunity to learn something special about our community and the world we live in. All are invited to visit Oceanside’s very own Buena Vista Audubon Society and Nature Center, California Surf Museum, Oceanside Museum of Art, Mission San Luis Rey and North County Miniature Railroad Society.
