Ranging from opportunities to try out Oceanside’s legendary dining and beer scene, to Oktoberfest celebrations, Halloween events full of spooky spirit, unique chances to take part in the cultural celebration of Dia de los Muertos, and everything in between! What: Celebrate the thriving arts and culture scene in the heart of downtown Oceanside. The First Friday: Oceanside Art Walk will showcase live performances, music, poetry, art education, and culinary and pop-up art galleries showcased in local businesses and public spaces. This fun event is free and open to the public, and during the times of the Art Walk admission into the Oceanside Museum of Art is half-priced. This upcoming Art Walk will be celebrating an Oktober-Art-fest theme!

What: For the fifth year in a row the Camp Pendleton Paintball Park will be hosting their zombie themed paintball games every Friday and Saturday night in October, from 7pm to midnight. There are three zombie shooting attractions; a guided walking tour through zombie ground zero, an armored battle wagon ride through zombie infected towns, or standard paintball play with a zombie theme. Tickets are $29 each or 2 for $39.

What: Taste of Oceanside is back for 2017, offering you the chance to sample some of Oceanside’s best food, beer, and wine! This highly anticipated annual event is limited to 1,000 tickets, with regular food tasting tickets available for $30 and food tickets plus beer and wine tasting available for $40. There will also be two ‘Taste Trolleys’ making continuous loops throughout downtown for you to hop on and off of so that you don’t miss a single delicious bite!

What: The locally organized South O Walkabout is a monthly walking event that showcases the beach community and its’ unique shops and restaurants. This monthly event will be encouraging walkers to discover the unique shopping and dining experiences offered in South Oceanside so come eat, drink, shop, and walk!
When: Wednesday, October 11th, 5-8pm
Where: South Oceanside; The Walkabout footprint starts at Urge Gastropub and extends north to the Privateer on Whaley St. The easy walk is about .4 miles each way.

What: Each year, the number of attendees at Pride by the Beach has steadily increased. The first Pride event hosted in the area had around 800 attendees. By 2013, the number of attendees more than quadrupled to over 4,000. In 2014, Pride by the Beach was moved to the streets of downtown Oceanside, CA. The move from the original location to downtown Oceanside provided more visibility, more accessibility and the number of attendees nearly doubled to 6,000-7,000! This year’s day-long celebration will kick off at 11 a.m and will include entertainment, over 100 vendors, inspirational speakers, food trucks, a children’s garden and a day full of fun.

What: BagbyFest is back, celebrating Oktoberfest with incredible beer, wine, spirits, cocktails and food. Tickets are $60 and include entry into the event area, a branded BagbyFest II glass, a custom event badge to track your tastes, food and beverage pairings from all of the offerings on hand and tastes from the beer festival.

What: Legacy Brewing Company in Oceanside is celebrating their 4 year anniversary with an Oktoberfest style event! There will be games, new beers, music, pretzels and free admission! This event will be both kid and dog friendly.

What: Thursday is market day in downtown Oceanside! As the sun begins to set on October 27th the family-friendly Sunset Market will become a spooky good time! Kids ages 12 and under will be able to trick or treat through the vendor booths as well as participate in a costume parade at 6pm at the main stage. Contests will also be held at 8pm at the main stage to find the most evil laugh and the most blood curdling scream! In addition, Halloween music will be playing all night long!

What: In celebration of Dia de los Muertos and Halloween, the Oceanside Museum of Art presents Art After Dark. This event will draw inspiration from the OMA exhibit Rolly Crump: It’s Kind of a Cute Story, which is based on the life of the last living Imagineer hired by Walt Disney, Rolly Crump. There will be food trucks, libations, art-making activities and musical experiences available throughout the night. Costumes are encouraged! This popular event sells out quickly so be sure to buy your tickets soon.

What: 2017 marks the 17th anniversary of the Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, festival in Oceanside. This traditional Mexican holiday dating back thousands of years celebrates and honors the memories of the deceased with colorful displays, face painting and more. This year the free public festival will be more vibrant and exciting than ever before with over 15 altars on display, as well as local traditional dancers and entertainment, a classic car show and a shopping mercado filled with traditional food vendors. All attendees are encouraged to participate in the free interactive chalk cemetery where they can dedicate images, flowers and candles to their lost loved ones.
