Fall Endurance Events In O’side


Oceanside is home to some of the most renowned endurance events in the country. With great pride, Oceanside serves as the host city for elite and novice athletes alike participating in sporting events across land and sea throughout the fall season. Thanks to Oceanside’s phenomenal year-round weather, you’ll often see locals and visitors logging miles along The Strand and coastal stretches, biking down the Coast HWY 101 or taking a swim in the ocean every day! In the coming weeks, however, prepare yourself to join the ranks of organized sporting events that will take athleticism, endurance and adventure to new heights!

Bike

What: Join riders of all levels and ages while experiencing the best of the Southern California beaches and surf towns as you ride routes of 7, 15, 25, 50 or 100 miles. Everything starts and finishes on the beach at the spectacular venue of the Oceanside Pier with food, music, expo shopping and fun!

When: Saturday, November 4, 2023, All Day

Distance Running

What: Come “move your feet before you eat” at the annual O’Side Turkey Trot, recognized as one of the Top Trots in the country by Runner’s World Magazine. This event is family-friendly and includes fun contests and competitions, as well as live entertainment along the course.  Free digital photos, medals, shirts, and timing to all registered participants. Join one of the fastest growing holiday traditions!

When: Thursday, November 23, 2023, 6am-11am

Where: Oceanside Civic Center, Pier View Way & North Ditmar Street, Oceanside, CA 92054

  • Course Options: There are two options for this event, a 5K Run/Walk or a 5 Mile Run.

Swim

What: The Oceanside Pier Swim is an annual one-mile swim that begins and ends on the beach, traversing around the Oceanside Pier. The Pier Swim opens with swimmers diving into the surf, circles one mile around the pier and ultimately ends with swimmers riding waves onto the beach and dashing towards a finish line on the sand.

When: Monday, September 4, 2023, 7-11:30am

  • Course: The 1-mile course goes out and around the Oceanside Pier, and will be marked with colored buoys. Swimmers have the choice between the traditional or wetsuit swim divisions.
  • Unique Fact: When the first Labor Day Pier Swim was held in 1929, participants were swimming around the 4th Oceanside Pier to be built. This year, on the 93rd anniversary, they will be swimming around the 6th iteration of the Oceanside Pier.

Oceanside is a world-class beach destination boasting history and character on every corner. Many of our citywide endurance events take place at our beautiful wooden pier, putting you 1,952 feet deep into the Pacific Ocean or at our charming Oceanside Harbor. Both areas offer great conditions to run, bike and perform at your optimum level for any event you’re participating in. Familiarize yourself with the landscape so you know the history of both the Pier and the Harbor prior to your event so you can enjoy their beauty even more while you’re there!
