Benefits of the Ballroom Reception
With Southern California being a mecca for outdoor weddings, sometimes the simplicity of having an indoor ballroom reception is overlooked. Here are some top reasons to consider an indoor ballroom reception at one of our Oceanside hotels.
Packages
Hotels design wedding packages to give you and your guests the very best experience. They normally include everything that you’d want in a wedding reception from appetizers to desserts so all you have to do is choose the option that best fits you. This doesn’t mean that you can’t customize or negotiate options. At a hotel, you most likely won’t need to rent tables or chairs, and if you want anything upgraded, just work with your Catering Manager to determine what’s available to you. Chances are, they can make it happen.
Getting Ready
Gather your wedding party and get ready at the hotel. Be sure to either book the largest suite available or get adjoining rooms so you can spread out and have multiple stations for primping. Most wedding stylists and make up artists will happily come to you.
Convenience
Transportation is often a hassle for out of town guests and they may not be comfortable driving where they’re unfamiliar. Having your guests stay at the wedding venue will give you the peace of mind that they can cut loose and enjoy themselves, but won’t need to drive anywhere afterward. This naturally creates more of a party atmosphere as well.
Activities
Our Oceanside hotels are conveniently located near additional restaurants and bars, so you and your guests can continue the party well after the bouquet has been tossed. Another tradition, that’s often overlooked is the bridal brunch or breakfast the next day. Invite your wedding guests that are staying overnight to brunch the next morning and receive one final toast with a mimosa before you make your getaway.
Weather
Dealing with unknown elements can be a big headache when planning a wedding. If you’re going to be outdoors, you must have a Plan B and sometimes a C and a D. With an indoor venue, that’s one less thing to worry about. Sure you’ll still want sunny skies and mild temps, but even if El Nino comes knocking, an indoor ballroom will give you shelter to the point of not knowing or caring what is happening outside. That’s simply not something a tent that’s been arranged last minute can provide you.
Flexible Spaces
Many hotels offer flexible spaces from outdoor courtyards, to rooftop pool decks where guests can roam. Weddings are often a time to catch up with family. It’s nice to have a quiet corner outside of the party where guests don’t need to shout to be heard.

Slated to open in late 2020, the project is being developed by S.D. Malkin Properties, Inc. and includes two resorts offerings. One property will be a spirited Joie de Vivre hotel with 161 guest rooms and suites – most with private, ocean-facing balconies. The second property will be a Destination Hotels’ resort that features an upscale beach house design with 226 guest rooms and suites, most with full or partial views of the ocean. Operated by Hyatt, both properties will offer street-level retail and dining, as well as indoor-outdoor meeting space that takes full advantage of the ocean front location.
