What's New: The OMA Connection
Immersion takes on a whole new flavor as participating chefs draw inspiration from the Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA). Why would local chefs collaborate with a fine art museum? Simple: visual arts and culinary arts share the exact same creative DNA. Both master color, texture, balance, and form to tell a story. Working alongside OMA gives Oceanside’s top culinary talents an unprecedented canvas, turning gallery exhibitions, tactile media, and historic architecture into edible masterpieces.
Kickoff Event & VIP Preview
6:30-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 26
Before these dishes hit restaurant menus, get the backstory at the ticketed Kickoff Preview. Held right inside OMA’s galleries, this intimate 90-minute evening lets you stand directly in front of the artwork that sparked each dish; discover why each chef chose their specific piece, see the visual inspiration during docent-led tours, and “taste” the art through curated dish samples. Complete with artist mingling and an engaging chef Q&A panel, it’s a rare opportunity to experience the dialogue between artist and chef before taking a bite. Guided Walking Food Tours
Step into the story with Carla and Linda’s Walking Food Tours, returning for guided Swell Plates excursions on weekend afternoons throughout February. Stroll through downtown streets to meet innovative chefs, hear about surrounding coastal history, and enjoy specially selected plates.
