Off the Wall: The Impact of Representation
Off The Wall is a conversation series between artists, curators, and other community leaders to discuss current exhibitions and the subjects the artists explore. Part moderated conversation, part audience participation, we take the art off the walls and into our everyday lives. Join us for a conversation on July 25 focused on the exhibition Undocumented Times / Queer Yearnings, where four community leaders will explore critical issues impacting queer undocumented immigrants in Southern California. Featuring artist Alexa Vasquez, her artwork in the Undocumented Times / Queer Yearnings exhibition draws from her journey as a queer undocumented woman to create an inclusive gallery space that resonates with both immigrant and arts communities. Join us as we highlight Alexa’s experiences as well as those of Curator Liliana Ramirez and North County LGBTQ Center Immigration Advocate Ines Delgado in a conversation moderated by OMA’s satellite gallery coordinator Natalie Gonzalez to explore how the world is changing for artists of many backgrounds. This community conversation invites us to imagine how the representation of undocuqueer creatives can impact the future of the art community.
