September is here, can you believe it? As school gets back in session and summer begins to come to a close don’t get the blues, there is still plenty going on in Oceanside! With exciting events ranging from the FM 94.9 Indie Jam concert, to the family-friendly Oceanside Harbor Days, to the Semper Tri & Devil Dog Duathlon, and many more in-between, Oceanside is the perfect place to send off the summer with a bang! What: Celebrate the thriving arts and culture scene in the heart of downtown Oceanside. This month the event will be entirely held at SpringHill Suites, and will feature live performances, music, poetry, art education, and culinary and pop-up art galleries, all displayed in and around the hotel. Admission is free and open to the public.

What: The Dezert People Video Series has been releasing action packed highlight films showcasing the best of the best in off road desert racing since 2001. This years premiere tour for Dezert People 15 kicks off at Legacy Brewing Co. in Oceanside on Friday September 7th. The premiere will begin at approximately 8pm, with food available for purchase, a raffle and free posters and stickers for attendees. Admission is free and for all ages.

What: FM 94.9 will once again be hosting their annual Indie Jam alongside the beach at the Junior Seau Oceanside Pier Amphitheatre. This fun event brings people from all around San Diego County to experience great music just feet away from the beach sand. This year the lineup includes Dirty Heads, Bishop Briggs, lovelytheband, Superorganism, and Two Feet. Tickets can be purchased at Indie Jam 2018 Tickets.

What: Join the North County LGBTQ+ Resource Center for the first annual Pride by the Beach Variety Show. Enjoy outstanding local entertainment, fashion, drinks and concessions, paparazzi and drag at the Historic Star Theatre while supporting and kicking off Oceanside’s Pride by the Beach event taking place October 13, 2018.

What: The largest North San Diego County event commemorating Mexican Independence Day is back! After a blessing by Father Gerardo of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Aztec Dancers Calpulli Omeyocan, the 14th annual Noche Mexicana event will include performances by Ballet Folklorico Tapatio de Oceanside, Mariachi Juvenil de San Diego, and other local Latino bands, singers and dancers. In addition to the dance and music entertainment there will be a special guest performance by singer Angelito Garcia of “La Voz Kids.” The event will end with a re-enactment of Grito de Dolores (“Cry for Independence”) performed by a representative of the Mexican Consulate.

What: This month’s South O Walkabout theme is Walk the Chalk! The locally organized South O Walkabout is a monthly walking event that showcases the beach community and its’ unique shops and restaurants. This monthly event will be encouraging walkers to discover the unique shopping and dining experiences offered in South Oceanside so come eat, drink, shop, and Walk!
When: Wednesday, September 12, 2018, 5-8pm
Where: South Oceanside; The Walkabout footprint starts at Urge Gastropub and extends north to the Privateer on Whaley St. The easy walk is about .4 miles each way.

What: All are invited to Oceanside Harbor for the annual Oceanside Harbor Days celebration. This event will feature two days filled with sun, sand, surf, arts and craft exhibits, great food and fun activities for the entire family including a costume party for kids 12 and under at Pirate Village, the annual Nail ‘n’ Sail Competition, Military and Public Safety displays, a beer garden and more. Harbor Days is free to the public.

What: Tiki swimmers begin their adventure with a mass start that takes them out and around the City of Oceanside’s iconic fishing pier. Once past the pier, swimmers turn north for a fast and straight swim towards the Oceanside Harbor where half way into the 2.4 mile course the 1.2 mile course swimmers will merge following their own mass start from the Harbor Beach. Once inside the Oceanside Small Craft Harbor, the Tiki swimmers will enjoy the calm protected waters where they will turn on the afterburners for a true “finishing kick” to the boat launch ramps. All finishers will receive a custom TikiSwim8 beach towel, TikiSwim8 visor, handwoven finisher lei, awesome finisher medal, and a hot and fresh breakfast burrito. Register here!

What: BobFest is a celebration of the music of one of the greatest singer/songwriter/poets this country has yet produced. BobFest features singer and guitarist Pat Guadagno, whose music was featured in the Award-winning Showtime series, Californication, and whom the New York Times has hailed as “a well-traveled troubadour with a remarkable repertoire.” Now in its 21st year BobFest is coming to The Brooks in Oceanside! Tickets are on sale now at Oceanside Theatre Company Tickets for $25 each. Doors open and happy hour begins at 7pm, and the performance will start at 8pm.
