Oceanside Events in November
We all know the holidays are right around the corner, and some are already itching to get all of their seasonal decorations out from storage, but wait! These awesome Oceanside events will have you holding off on skipping through November! From athletic events like Bike the Coast and the O’side Turkey Trot, to the family friendly Oceanside Art Walk and Little Shop of Horrors Musical, and to the holiday kick-off of shopping local at the Merry Makers Fair. Oceanside is where you want to be this November!

What: Celebrate the thriving arts and culture scene in the heart of downtown Oceanside. The First Friday: Oceanside Art Walk will showcase live performances, music, poetry, art education, and culinary and pop-up art galleries showcased in local businesses and public spaces. This month’s Art Walk will be fall themed, calling for guests to “fall” in love with the Oceanside art scene! November will feature five musical performances in Artist Alley, a fire dance in the event at Mission Ave. and Freeman St., a special “Twists and Turns” art installation in the lobby of the Brooks Theatre, in addition to the many other art installations located throughout downtown Oceanside! This fun event is free and open to the public.

What: The annual Bike the Coast event promotes Oceanside as a bike-friendly location. This year there will be five course distance options, a 7 mile ride, 15 mile ride, 25 mile ride, 50 mile ride, or a 100 mile ride along Highway 101. Entry fee prices range from $60 to $100. Following the bike ride the Taste the Coast Festival will begin at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater. This free event will include local cuisine, music, a beer garden and a sports expo for all to enjoy.

What: Star Theatre Coast Kids presents Little Shop of Horrors, a horror comedy rock musical about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on humans. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film “The Little Shop of Horrors”. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, “Skid Row (Downtown)”, “Somewhere That’s Green”, and “Suddenly, Seymour”.

What: Come “move your feet before you eat!®” this Thanksgiving at Oceanside’s 13th Annual Pacific Marine Credit Union O’side Turkey Trot 10k Run/ 5K run/walk and Senior 1 Mile Presented by Tri City Medical Center. Voted one of America’s top trots, join in this fast growing Thanksgiving tradition that includes runs, walks, costume contest, team competition, fabulous live entertainment and finisher medals for all participants!
Right after the race at 10:20am, Turkey Trot holds the Senior Festival of Miles (65 yr- on). This 1-mile fun walk or race features some of the fastest seniors in the country as well as walkers, joggers, walkers with walkers, and a wheelchair push (a 400m wheelchair push is also an option).

What: Take a trip back in time and experience what the holidays were like in the mid-1800s. Rancho Guajome Adobe welcomes you to its annual Rancho Christmas celebration where you can see and tour the historic 28 room adobe and 2 large courtyards dressed with festive wreaths, garlands and centerpieces. The celebration will also include tractor rides, Native American storytelling and Christmas Carolers!

What: The Merry Makers Fair is a weekend long pop-up vendor showcase featuring artisanal businesses selling creative, hand-crafted products ranging from jewelry to home goods, flowers and succulents, woodwork, clothing, accessories, bath and body products, paper goods and art.
This event is a part of the ‘Tis the Season to Shop Local holiday campaign. Complementing the holiday shopping atmosphere there will also be a special Sip & Shop event providing beer and wine tastings inside participating retail establishments on Saturday, November 24th from 2pm-5pm.
