Film Screening: A Choice of Weapons

Join the Oceanside Museum of Art for a free community screening of the film A Choice of Weapons: Inspired by Gordon Parks (99 minutes). Presented in partnership with Oceanside Public Library and the North County African American Women’s Association, the film explores the power of images in advancing racial, economic, and social equality as seen through the lens of Gordon Parks, one of America’s most trailblazing artists, and the generation of young photographers, filmmakers, and activists he inspired. From the 1940s through the 2000s, Parks’ bold and revealing body of work captured the intersections of art, race, class and politics across the United States, documenting civil rights and social justice as part of the everyday experience.

Free copies of the book A Choice of Weapons by Gordon Parks will be given away by Oceanside Public Library while supplies last.
