This weekend is the perfect time to experience Oceanside and enjoy all that this beautiful beach city has to offer. The Event Calendar is overflowing with fantastic activities for you to do, and we’ve highlighted just a few to give you an idea of all that you can experience this weekend. So if you’re up for an adventure and a great time come on down to Oceanside and check out these top events you don’t want to miss!
What: The California Surf Museum is hosting a book signing and presentation of Tides: The Science and Spirit of the Ocean with the author Jonathan White. Using photographs, stories, and short readings, Jonathan takes his audiences on an enthralling journey into the surprising and poetic workings of the tide as he searches around the world to better understand this amazing natural phenomenon. Doors open at 6:30pm, admission is free but seating is limited so reserve your spot by calling (760) 721-6876. Books will also be available for purchase at the California Surf Museum.

What: The Oceanside Police Department is proud to announce its 1st Annual OPD K9 Trials. This two-day event is open to the public and will include active law enforcement and military K9 teams competing in a set of various trial competitions, including vehicle, parcel, and building searches, agility and obedience courses, and more.
When: Friday, April 21st, 1-5pm and Saturday, April 22nd, 8am-5pm
Where: Friday – El Corazon Senior Center and Saturday – El Camino High School
What: Bring your family and friends and come on down to the free Public Safety Fair put on by the Oceanside Police Department. There will be food vendors, info booths, Police equipment displays, Police K-9 demo’s, K-9 trial competitions, and more for you to watch and enjoy.

Loma Alta Creek Cleanup
What: As part of Earth Month get your hands dirty and clean up our local environment! Join community volunteers on April 22nd at the Loma Alta Creek Cleanup. Teams will be removing trash and debris while helping sustain the long-term health of our local waterway! Volunteers can choose from several sites and will receive cleanup supplies, refreshments, and community service hours. To register visit CreektoBay.org.

What: Grab your family and friends for North County’s largest Earth Day celebration in downtown Oceanside! Earth Festival is a free event with fun and exciting attractions for everyone including live music from local bands! At the festival there will be a Vintage Market showcasing local businesses that offer unique goods, a Home Improvement Zone, a Kids-Eco Zone where children will be inspired by our local environment to save water, recycle right, and enjoy the great outdoors, a DIY Compost Bin Workshop, and more!

What: The 25th annual Oceanside Days of Art is a juried fine art festival featuring up to and sometimes over 100 local artists selling a variety of unique artwork including paintings, sculptures, stained glass, ceramics, fine jewelry, photography and more. The festival, which is offered free to the public, has live stage performances, children’s and adult’s hands on art activities, street chalk artist, painting and sculpture demonstrations, and a delicious variety of food choices in the food court.
When: Saturday and Sunday, April 22nd-23rd, 10am-5pm.

What: The Oceanside Museum of Art in celebration of the 25th annual Oceanside Days of Art festival will be offering half-price admission into the museum April 22nd and 23rd. OMA will be open for regular business hours during both days.
When: Saturday, April 22nd, 11am-5pm and Sunday, April 23rd, 12pm-5pm.

What: April is National Poetry Month and the Oceanside Public Library is offering a Community Poetry Celebration and Poet Talk. Library staff have asked Oceanside Locals and Community Leaders to share their favorite poems in addition to having featured poet Patricia Traxler share her favorite poems plus a sampling of her own original poetry. This celebration is free to attend and open to the public!

What: The Cal South National Cup is taking place at Oceanside’s SoCal Sports Complex, with the following games taking place: Boys 2000/ 17U Round 1, Boys 1999/ 18U Round 1, Girls 2000/ 17U Round 1, and Girls 1999/ 18U Round 1.

What: The Scholastic Surf Series (SSS) will be hosting the High School State Championship Surf Competition in Oceanside. Teams competing in this new series can expect the same high quality events that the Western Surfing Association has become known for, including professional judging, quality events and a family oriented program.
