Prince of Peace Abbey
The Prince of Peace Abbey is a Benedictine Monastery situated on a mesa overlooking the San Luis Rey River Valley and the Pacific Ocean. It was founded in 1958 by monks of St. Meinrad’s Archabbey in Indiana. The facility serves as a retreat house and gardens for those seeking spiritual renewal.
The Benedictine Monks of the Prince of Peace Abbey belong to the Roman Catholic “Order of Saint Benedict” (The Benedictines). They have been in San Diego County since 1958 and are members of an uninterrupted tradition of more than 1,400 years.
A popular feature open to the public is the Prayer Walk (outdoor stations of the cross). Please remember to keep all conversation to a whisper.
