Relay for Life of Oceanside

Relay for Life of Oceanside

Relay is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track. The event is 24 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don’t stop because they’re tired, and for one night, neither do we.

Each team sets up a themed campsite at the event and continues their fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, goods, games, and activities. This money will count towards their overall team fundraising goal.

The overall event runs from 10am Saturday – 10am Sunday but these are some of the highlights.

10:00am: Opening Ceremony – We’ll kick off the event by celebrating everyone who’s been affected by cancer. Whether someone’s been diagnosed for 10 days or been cancer-free for 10 years, they gather together for the crowd to cheer them on. To follow Opening Ceremony, Survivors define courage and inspire those facing a cancer diagnosis. Their strength is honored with each step they take around the first lap. If you know anyone who’s overcome cancer, invite them to join.

9:00pm: Luminaria Ceremony – Each Luminaria bag represents a loved one lost to cancer, brings support to those affected by it, and honors survivors. This powerful moment gives people the opportunity to grieve but also offers hope and comfort. One of the most moving events of the Relay and definitely one not to miss.
