The 2017 Oceanside Intl. Film Festival kicks off at the Star Theatre with a red carpet welcoming reception, allowing both local and abroad filmmakers to become acquainted with the city they’ll call home for 8 days of cinematic screening & celebration! Join OIFF’s opening event for fabulous catered foods, local craft brew and wines on tap & fantastic on stage performance by world renowned guitarist, David Maldonado. The programming for the night will begin with The Whimsical Imagineer (starting at 4:00pm), a film about Roland Fargo Crump one of the original Imagineers for Walt Disney who worked on classics such as Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmations, as well as Disneyland’s It’s a Small World, The Haunted Mansion, and more. Following this film, a second motion picture will be featured beginning at 5pm. I Stand: Guardians of the Water is a feature length documentary that presents the story of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation and their stalwart opposition & peaceful protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
