Comic Book Day

Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day activities, and FREE COMIC BOOKS for all ages, are coming to the Oceanside Public Library and PANELS Comic Book Coffee Bar on Saturday, May 4, 2019! The Library will host a green screen activity at PANELS Comic Book Coffee Bar, 713 Mission Avenue in Oceanside, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., so join them for a photo shoot and pick up some free comics!

All ages are invited to the Civic Center Library, 330 North Coast Highway, from 12:00-4:00 p.m. for fun, comic-themed activities. At noon, author M. K. Palmer will share tips on writing and publishing your own graphic novels in the Library’s 2nd floor Foundation Room. Also at noon, Dave Boatman will be in the Library’s Community Room teaching us how to draw superheroes. At 1:30 p.m., a panel of comic experts will discuss autobiographical graphic novels. Panelists include Claudia Dominguez (More Than Money), Mary Fleener (Life of the Party), and Fifi Martinez (It Felt Like Nothing). Finally, at 3:00 p.m., it will be time for a dance party! The Library Bards will be performing a comic and pop culture themed concert (appropriate for all ages). You won’t want to miss this! Crafts and activities will be available in the Library courtyard from 1:00-3:00 p.m. that day, and cosplay is encouraged.

These events are free, for all ages, and are sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library and PANELS Comic Book Coffee Bar. For more information about the Library, please visit www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org or call (760) 435-5600.
