California Surf Museum’s 9th Annual Gala
California Surf Museum’s 9th Annual Gala
The board of directors and staff at the California Surf Museum cordially invite you to come celebrate this special milestone at the 9th Annual Gala Fundraiser, Saturday October 29th, on the ocean view terrace at the SpringHill Suites Marriott, Oceanside. The event will be honoring surfing legend Nat Young, who 50 years ago at the 1966 World Surfing Championships in San Diego rode “Magic Sam” to win first place, pioneering and ushering in surfing’s high performance short board era. The Museum’s 30th, and 50th anniversary of San Diego hosting the Championships at Ocean Beach, the year the OB Pier opened. Young, the 2016 recipient of the museum’s annual “Silver Surfer Award” which is given to a surfer that continues to make significant contributions to the culture and lifestyle of surfing, will be here from Australia to accept the award. The evening will consist of cocktail reception along with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Executive Chef Jared Hills of Hello Betty’s Fish House, followed by a succulent sunset dinner overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Oceanside Pier. Following dinner – music will be provided by Tower 7 while guests roam and admire unique items up for auction. Tickets are available for purchase online. For more information on ticket pricing and the group room block at SpringHill Suites Marriott can be found online at California Surf Museum.
