Made up of 50 acres of stunning Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch offer stunning, multi-colored views as far as the eye can see! Walk among the flowers, breathe in the fresh air, and soak in the moment at the fields. (We won’t even blame you if you break out into “The Hills are Alive”!) The Flower Fields are perfect for a low-key date, a family afternoon, or just quiet time to reflect, and they have various attractions and special events for added excitement for kids and adults alike. Attractions at the Flower Fields include:
Antique tractor wagon rides Ride around the fields in an open-air wagon while listening to an audio history of The Flower Fields. A good extra for history buffs or visitors with small children. (Cost for the wagon ride is an added $5 for adults, $3 for kids) The Artist Gardens Art lovers will enjoy this attraction as paintings are translated into garden displays that use flowers as the medium instead of paint. Sweet Pea Maze A full-immersion experience that will surround you with sweet-smelling sweet pea blossoms in a “living maze.” Carlsbad Mining Company Young kids will have fun with this mining sluice activity! Pretend you are a miner-of-old and sift through sand and water to find polished gemstones. For more attractions at The Flower Fields, check out their website! Upcoming 2014 events at The Flower Fields:
March 29: Sunset Strummers Ukulele Band Relax and enjoy a taste of Hawaiian flair with this impressive string band. March 30: Kids’ Day Fun craft projects, a drum circle, balloon animals, and face painting will entertain the kids for the day at this event! April 5: Madame LeRoux & Krewe This New Orleans and Gulf Coast R&B Jazz fusion band invites you to come and be dazzled with an energy-filled performance decked out in New Orleans style. April 6: Canon Photography Workshop A free macro-photography workshop with Canon USA that will give let you practice hands-on in the field with Canon equipment. You can visit any day of the week from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., but April is the prime time to see all the flower varieties in bloom.
