Lopex visited different cities to meet strangers so he could capture and develop these special images. Relámpago means “lightning” in Spanish, which refers to the illumination captured in these images. Lopex documented family portraits by using solid metal plates to create the concept of illumination. “The resulting small-scale artworks draw the viewer into a fictional world, challenging the traditional concepts of identity, personal space, and familial roles.” – OMA
