What’s a beach picnic without good food? Bring an ice chest full of your favorite goodies, pick up lunch at one of these great locations, or grill at the beach! Make sure to bring a large blanket to sit on or take advantage of the many picnic tables around Oceanside beaches…because sandy food is no fun. It’s popular for many to bring tents/E-Z ups to Harbor beach for their picnics because the beach is very wide. Remember, all picnic areas are first-come, first-served and there must be a person standing by.
Incorporating games into your picnic is a great way to mix things up and put some variety in your outing. Bocce ball is a fun game for the beach. You’ll have to adjust your strategy depending on whether you play on wet or dry sand! Frisbees or footballs can also be nice to casually toss around. For a little more excitement, consider bringing a rope for tug-of-war. On warmer days, wet and freeze a few T-shirts. The first to thaw their shirt and put it on wins! Many Oceanside beaches also have volleyball courts. You’ll just need to supply the net and balls. Buccaneer Park also has a basketball court.
If your picnic stretches into the evening, who can say no to incorporating bonfire-roasted s’mores into the picnic menu ? Just make sure to check out these beach and pier rules and regulations to stay safe.
