For those who’ve never had it, TakoYaki is a ball-shaped Japanese snack typically filled with octopus (tako), tempura scraps, pickled ginger and green onion. It’s then fried in a special takoyaki pan with a savory wheat batter. Mouth watering! Yelp reviewer Yok I. says, “I love, love the sunset market!! I look forward to Thursdays!! Takoyaki, steak caesar salad, Jamaican food, and sweet potato cake are the ones I enjoy eating 🙂 Most of all, we get to try all kinds of food. 2. Funnel Cake and Strawberries (Yelp Review)
It’s hard not to feel like a kid again when enjoying the classic Funnel Cake and strawberries. Sunset market’s version will have nostalgia flooding back with every sweet sweet bite. Erika T. says on Yelp, “The food selection on the other hand was outstanding! Lots of touristy booths, live music, all the makings of a street fair. Definitely could feast for hours there, but beware! A few dollars here and there on a whole bunch of yummy food can burn a hole in your pocket fast! Hawaiians have mastered the art of Kalua (translated as “in the ground”) pork cooking over generations, and the deliciousness of underground oven pork is unmistakable. Not since Jack Johnson’s Banana Pancakes has a tropical-influenced treat made our mouths water this much! Coconut pancakes are one of the treats that make the Sunset Market in Oceanside a one-of-a kind experience, and Yelp user R.V. agrees: “After the Sunset Market it’s nice to just walk around the beach and pier enjoy how interesting how the people catch the fishes, sting rays. I’ve come down here so many times I’ve seen dolphins and seals swimming around the pier. Also a huge purple jellyfish! That lovely well known pelican that chills there. The bonfire nights. You gotta love the this beach.
