Oceanside is best known for being the filming spot of the bungalow house featured in Top Gun, which is located on South Pacific Street, one block from the Oceanside Strand. But did you know it’s been featured in two other famous movies and TV shows too?
Remember Bring It On? Of course, you do. This famously funny movie about a high school cheerleading squad was filmed all around San Diego. Towards the end of the film, when the squads go to Daytona Beach, Florida to compete in the National Cheerleading Competition, they weren’t filming in Daytona Beach, Florida.
It was actually filmed at the Oceanside Bandshell, next to the Oceanside pier! Other scenes in the film were filmed around North County, including Torrey Pines High School and Cardiff-By-The-Sea. For a full list of filming locations for Bring It On, visit Imdb.com.

Remember Rocket Power? Every 90s kid’s favorite Nickelodeon animated TV show about four friends living in a beach town called Ocean Shores. This famous fictional series was actually based on Oceanside. There are some additions in the show, like Ocean Shores’ ferris wheel and some slight other changes but otherwise, it is very cool to see our town in animation.
