The Farmer’s Market is an ongoing event taking place every Thursdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Fall Fun For Families in Oceanside, California

Line-up Includes Harbor Days, Bike the Coast, Dia de los Muertos and Kids Free in October

Oceanside, Calif.- August 2012– Families can extend their summer fun with a fall escape to Oceanside, Calif., San Diego’s North Shore, where exciting fall events and kids discounts provide an enriching getaway experience with tremendous value. A San Diego-wide Kids Free promotion in October combined with the popular Harbor Days, sporty Bike the Coast-Taste the Coast event and unique Dia de los Muertos festival make for a great fall line-up perfectly suited to families in search of a weekend escape.

Museums and attractions throughout San Diego will be offering free admission for children 12 and under during the month of October. Participating Oceanside museums include the popular California Surf Museum (CSM) and the Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA). At the surf museum, kids will be stoked on exhibits including one entitled Secret Spot and another featuring teen surfer Bethany Hamilton’s shark-bitten surfboard. The OMA’s current lowrider exhibit is a popular draw as is the Free Family Art Day on October 14 where kids can spend a creative afternoon exploring a diverse selection of Asian-inspired art activities such as origami, crafting a paper koi fish and gyotaku or fish rubbing. Oceanside Harbor Days, September 29 & 30, 2012

Pirates take over Oceanside Harbor during the annual Oceanside Harbor Days on September 29-30, 2012. Presented by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, this fun-filled event begins at 9 a.m. each day includes roaming pirates, trendy local bands, arts and craft exhibits, great food and fun activities for the entire family. Two event filled days of sun, sand and surf provide an outstanding opportunity for residents and visitors to experience fun activities including the new Beach area stage, Nail ‘n’ Sail Competition, Military, Police and Fire displays, and tours of The Californian, a tall ship at the dolphin dock. The event is free to the public.

12th Annual Dia de los Muertos, Sunday, October 28, 2012

Dia de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” is an all-day, free family event taking place on Sunday, October 28from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Oceanside’s historic Mission San Luis Rey. Dia de los Muertos is a special event with diverse cultural traditions, remembering and honoring deceased loved ones. The largest festival of its kind in San Diego County, the Mission will come alive with entertainment, carnival rides and vendors. Children will be entertained with a variety of craft activities and exciting carnival rides. The entire family will enjoy 75 diverse vendors, traditional food, chalk cemetery and a classic car show showcasing trunk altars put on by the Por Siempre Car Club. Bike the Coast-Taste The Coast, November 3, 2012

As San Diego’s only Bike Friendly designated community by the League of American Bicyclists, Bike the Coast-Taste the Coast is ideally suited to Oceanside. Bikers of all ages and skill levels can participate in the event, which offers five out-and-back routes ranging from 7 miles to 100 miles. The relatively flat, 7-mile route along the San Luis Rey Bike Trail is the most family-friendly ride. All routes finish back at the Oceanside Pier, where the Taste the Coast Festival and Expo portion of the event takes place and features food booths and fun activities for the family.
