SUMMARY:Merenda & Oceanside Museum of Art Present: From Farm to Table to Planet
DESCRIPTION:From Farm to Table to Planet: What Environmental Anthropology Teaches Us About Sustainability\nSustainability is everywhere. On menus, wine labels, grocery shelves, and social feeds. But what does it really mean, and who gets to decide?\nJoin environmental anthropologist and Merenda co-owner Dr. Lauren Crossland-Marr for an evening inspired by Francisco Eme: Future Rituals and la eco resistencia at the Oceanside Museum of Art. Drawing from Eme’s work and her own research, she introduces environmental anthropology, a field that explores how humans understand and live within ecological systems.\nRather than treating environmental issues as technical problems, this talk looks at food, farming, and sustainability as cultural and historical. Through stories from farms and food systems, Dr. Crossland-Marr invites us to slow down and reflect on how everyday choices around eating and consumption are shaped by power, values, and inequality.\n45-minute talk followed by a 15-minute Q&A.\n\nEach ticket includes a Jambon Beurre Sandwich and a glass of wine\n$20 of every ticket goes to support the Oceanside Museum of Art\nCollaboration with Visit Oceanside’s 2026 Swell Plate Series\nVegetarian option can be accommodated. Please note in reservation.\n\n
