Oceanside Beach Weddings and Events FAQs
Most likely, yes. If your ceremony or event has more than 30 people and/or includes chairs, arches, equipment, decorations, tenting, amplified music or other items not normally part of typical daily beach use, a permit is required.
Permits are NOT issued for beach events occurring during the peak summer season (Memorial Day to Labor Day). As an alternative, Strand Gazebo and Tyson Street Park are beachfront parks that are available for weddings and events virtually year-round. A permit may not be granted based on other citywide events and/or high-traffic weekends, including holidays. This is at the city’s discretion.
If you have under 30 guests and you want to literally walk up and have a ceremony (30 minutes or less) you’re good to go on any of Oceanside’s public beaches at any time.
All reception activities require a permit.
All beach area parking lots are first come first served pay parking. No reserved parking will be permitted. Ask Visit Oceanside for shuttle company referrals!
You can submit an application for permit 365 days in advance but no later than 60 days prior to your event.
