21st annual Oceanside Days of Art
Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation proudly presents the 21st annual Oceanside Days of Art (ODA). The event will be held on Saturday April 20th and Sunday April 21st 2013 from 10 am to 5 pm at the corner of Coast Hwy 101 and Pier View Way in downtown Oceanside. ODA is a free juried fine art festival featuring over 200 local artists and live stage performers. A variety of visual and performing arts will be displayed including paintings, sculptures, stained glass, ceramics, fine jewelry, photography and more. The festival also offers live stage performances, children’s hands on art activities, face painting, street chalk artist demonstrations, and a delicious variety of food choices in the food court. Other attractions include the largest High School Art Show in North County sponsored by the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League, and Angelique the Living Music Box. Additionally, the Oceanside Museum of Art located adjacent to the event is offering half price admission to the museum during the two days of ODA.
Whale Watching in Oceanside
It is that time of the year again! An incredible migration is moving past Oceanside. Each season, beginning in December and running through April, upwards of 20,000 gray whales make a 10,000 mile round-trip journey from Alaska to the warm lagoons of Baja California, where the females give birth to their calves. It is the longest known distance any mammal migrates on an annual basis and is truly an extraordinary spectacle to see. With our coastline directly in the gray whale migration path, Oceanside is an ideal destination to see this spectacle of gentle giants.
