Halloween Events in and Around Oceanside
If you are looking to spend some time in the Southern California sun and enjoy the great surf, how about throwing on a costume while you cut up those waves? Even though Halloween traditionally involves kids exploring neighborhoods with half-full plastic bags of sugary treats, Oceanside has a plethora of activities for witches and ghouls of every age to take part in and enjoy. Modern Airsoft: Terror Escape
What: Modern Airsoft is hosting their first annual Terror Escape! This escape room challenge involves an indoor arena with dark mazes, scary streets and terrorist compounds guarded by heavily armored militants. Bring your smartest and braves family and friends to overcome the horrifying obstacles waiting for you!

Old Town Trolley Haunted Tours
What: Join the Old Town Trolley Tours for a spirited & entertaining tour built on stories of history, mystery and legends of San Diego’s past & DARKER SIDE! Travel back in time and learn about the spirits of notorious wild characters like gunslingers, gamblers and ladies of the night who lived and died in San Diego. It is possible that their spirits live on in the dark recesses of the historic buildings and neighborhoods!

The Scream Zone at the Del Mar Scaregrounds
What: The Scream Zone is San Diego County’s largest haunted experience! Hosted at the Del Mar Fairgrounds it is considered among the goriest, scariest and “screaming-est” fright fests to be found in the dark corners of Southern California. Four terrifying haunted attractions are available at The Scream Zone, including local favorite House of Horror so pick your poison wisely!

Brick-or-Treat Party Nights at LEGOLAND
What: Brick-or-Treat Party Nights at LEGOLAND California Resort are filled with Halloween excitement! The entire Park is open every Saturday night in October til 9pm. Pumpkin Art Contest
What: SpringHill Suites Oceanside will be holding a Pumpkin Art Context for the month of October! Entry is $5, and all proceeds go to the Dollars for Dreams charity. All pumpkins must be submitted by Saturday 10/28 at 5pm, and any family-friendly pumpkin art is acceptable (carving, painting, bedazzling, etc). This contest is open to the public and all ages can participate. Entries will be displayed in the SpringHill Suites lobby throughout the month and as submissions are entered they will be posted on SpringHill Suite’s social media and likes on the photos will contribute to the winner.
When: Entries can be submitted until Saturday, October 28th at 5pm. Official voting will occur from Sunday, October 29th at 12pm through Tuesday, October 31st at 2pm.

Free Halloween Magic Show

Haunted Sunset Market
What: This Thursday as the sun begins to set the family-friendly Sunset Market will become a spooky good time! Kids ages 12 and under will be able to trick or treat through the vendor booths as well as participate in a costume parade at 6pm at the main stage. Contests will also be held at 8pm at the main stage to find the most evil laugh and the most blood curdling scream! In addition, Halloween music will be playing all night long!

Art After Dark: Dia De Los Muertos
What: In celebration of Dia de los Muertos and Halloween, the Oceanside Museum of Art presents Art After Dark. This event will draw inspiration from the OMA exhibit Rolly Crump: It’s Kind of a Cute Story, which is based on the life of the last living Imagineer hired by Walt Disney, Rolly Crump. There will be food trucks, libations, art-making activities, and musical experiences available throughout the night. Costumes are encouraged! This popular event sells out quickly so be sure to buy your tickets soon.

Dia de los Muertos Festival
What: 2017 marks the 17th anniversary of the Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead Festival in Oceanside. This traditional Mexican Holiday dating back thousands of years celebrates and honors the memories of the deceased with colorful displays, face painting and more. This year the free public festival will be more vibrant and exciting than ever before with over 15 altars on display, as well as local traditional dancers and entertainment, a classic car show and a shopping mercado filled with traditional food vendors. All attendees are encouraged to participate in the free interactive chalk cemetery where they can dedicate images, flowers and candles to their lost loved ones.

Rather than having your kids trick or treat from door to door, they can do so in their gymnasium that has been transformed for Halloween. Take a stroll through the Haunted House, enter into the family friendly costume contest, or dance the night away to classic holiday songs. There will be games, snacks, prizes, and more!

What: Wild Wonders and Wrench & Rodent Present “Spooky Safari: Creepy Creatures and Creative Cuisine!” This event will feature culinary delights with tasting stations from chefs such as James Montejano of Seaside Market, Willy Eick of 608 Oceanside, Ramiro Guerra of Belching Beaver, Davin Waite of Wrench & Rodent Seabasstropub, and amazing talent from Flying Pig Pub & Kitchen and Privateer Coal Fire Pizza. There will also be delicious libations from Chris Lobo of Native Wines with samplings of local favorites in addition to local drafts and spooky cocktails.
