Oceanside Events in November
Halloween has come and gone and the December holiday supplies have been stocked up on store shelves for weeks. We all know the holidays are right around the corner, and some are already itching to get all of their seasonal decorations out from storage, but wait! These awesome Oceanside events will have you holding off on the decorating because you’ll be so busy having a great time here during the month of November! From athletic events like Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast and the O’side Turkey Trot, to the family friendly Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music and Hairspray the Musical shows, to the festive Rancho Christmas celebration and more, Oceanside is where you want to be this November!

What: Celebrate the thriving arts and culture scene in the heart of downtown Oceanside. The First Friday: Oceanside Art Walk will showcase live performances, music, poetry, art education, and culinary and pop-up art galleries showcased in local businesses and public spaces. This fun event is free and open to the public, and during the times of the Art Walk admission into the Oceanside Museum of Art is half-priced. This month’s Art Walk will be fall themed, calling for guests to “fall” in love with the Oceanside art scene!

What: The annual Bike the Coast event promotes Oceanside as a bike-friendly location. This year there will be three course distance options, a 25 mile ride, a 50 mile ride, or a 100 mile ride along Highway 101. Entry fee prices range from $40 to $130. Register here! Following the bike ride the Taste the Coast Festival will begin at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater. This free event will include local cuisine, music, a beer garden and a sports expo for all to enjoy.

What: The Scholastic Surf Series (SSS) provides a professionally managed and operated platform for school surf teams from San Diego. This Middle School and High School surfing event will be taking place at the Oceanside Harbor South Jetty where teams competing in this new series can expect the same high quality events that the Western Surfing Association has become known for, including professional judging, quality events and a family oriented program. What: Experience the sell-out sensation that took London and New York by storm! The Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music show is no ordinary movie screening, it is an event complete with costume contests, props for audience participation and of course a screening of the classic movie with lyrics for singing along! So warm up your voice and come enjoy the classic Julie Andrews film musical in glorious, full-screen technicolor, complete with subtitles so that the whole audience can sing along for some Do-Re-MI-FUN! Food booths and trucks will begin serving food & drinks at 5pm, the doors will open at 5:30pm and the show will begin at 6:30pm.

What: Star Theatre Coast Kids presents their newest Broadway musical, Hairspray. The Tony© Award-winning Hairspray musical continues to be one of the most widely produced musicals today. This energetic story takes place in Baltimore in 1962 where we meet quirky, plus-sized, teenage Tracy Turnblad, who has one dream: to dance on The Corny Collins Show, which she watches daily with her best friend, Penny. When she gets put in detention with the African-American students in the school, they teach her some of their dance moves, and her newfound groove wins her a spot on Corny’s show. With the help of the teenage heartthrob, Link, host Corny Collins, and Motormouth Maybelle, Tracy overcomes the odds and succeeds in her mission to integrate The Corny Collins Show. This show is family friendly.

What: The Veterans Association of North County (VANC) will be holding their annual Veterans Day Ceremony in honor of Veterans of all military branches. This ceremony will include the posting of colors by the Eagle Young Marines, the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem as performed by Eve and Erica Nasby, a speech by guest speaker Col. Sam Porter of the 1st Marine Division, a benediction by Charlene Itchkawich of the Women Marines Association and a performance of military service songs by Emmalyn and the VANC choir.

What: Hello Betty is teaming up with artist Margaret Chiaro for another edition of Palate to Palette. Admission is $45. Students of any level are welcome and will be instructed step by step how to paint their very own take home master copy of a well regarded piece of artwork. All supplies are included. Hello Betty will provide guests with their choice of one free glass of house wine or beer and the rooftop selection of tacos and signature raw bar will be available for purchase. Must be 21 or older to attend.

What: Come “move your feet before you eat” at the O’Side Turkey Trot, recognized as one of the Top Trots in the country by Runner’s World Magazine. Free digital photos, medals, shirts, and timing are available to all registered participants. The 5K Walk adult entry fee is $36 and the 10K Run/Walk adult entry fee is $38. Additionally, for seniors 65 and older there is a special 1 mile O’Side Turkey Trot experience held the day prior, November 22nd from 9am-11am. Family members are welcome to participate to provide assistance if needed. Please see website for complete rules and qualifications.

- Course Options: There are two options for this event, a 5K Run/Walk or a 10K Run. This event is family friendly and includes fun contests and competitions, as well as live entertainment along the course. Join one of the fastest growing holiday traditions!
What: Take a trip back in time and experience what the holidays were like in the mid-1800s. Rancho Guajome Adobe welcomes you to its annual Rancho Christmas celebration where you can see and tour the historic 28 room adobe and 2 large courtyards dressed with festive wreaths, garlands and centerpieces. The celebration will also include tractor rides, Native American storytelling and Christmas carolers! Tickets are $5 for ages 13+, $3 for ages 4-12, and kids 3 and under are free.

What: The Merry Makers Fair is a weekend long pop-up vendor showcase featuring artisanal businesses selling creative, hand-crafted products ranging from jewelry to home goods, flowers and succulents, woodwork, clothing, accessories, bath and body products, paper goods and art. This event is a part of the ‘Tis the Season to Shop Local holiday campaign. Complementing the holiday shopping atmosphere there will also be a special Sip & Shop event providing beer and wine tastings inside participating retail establishments on Saturday, November 25th.
