But did you know that Oceanside is also the absolute perfect setting for a Family Reunion?
One of our good friends and local Oceanside Historian, John Daley, explains why Oceanside, Ca is such an amazing place to host a fun family reunion:
I think our family reunion is a good model in some ways to attract folks to have theirs here. We made deals with accommodations ahead of the reunion, took advantage of the competitive rats for the more aggressive motels and shared local family space. Our family came to the big reunion at about 160 strong. Two-thirds of them were from outside of Southern California with some coming from as far away as Australia. Many came a week ahead to enjoy the attractions including the beach and harbor. Many came and stayed longer. We had good attendance even though the Summer rates can be daunting for some families. We looked for unusual locations for both the reunion and the Ice Breakers the evening before. The 101 Cafe was an incredible place for the Great-grandchildren and their kids (about 90) to meet with their Daleys and us oldies retreated to a home, not a rest home, to be able to strengthen ties. Maybe this might strike a cord for people on the edge of having larger family reunions.
