Beary Beary Magical May Bears Holidays

Muramid Museum and Art Center
Celebrate the beginning of 2017 with lots of laughter and fun! Visit the Muramid Mural Museum and Arts Center to celebrate the “Beary Beary Magical May Bears Holidays” event being held until January 25, 2017. Children of all ages are invited to visit the museum for free.

Even in the heart of a Southern California winter, the Farmers’ and Sunset markets brighten downtown Oceanside with its variety of fresh produce, unique retail products, and delicious international cuisine. The Farmer’s Market will be held every Thursday morning, while the *Sunset Market will be dark on January 5th, but open for business all other Thursday evenings in January.

Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night

Muramid Museum and Art Center
Opening on January 6th – Twelfth Night – and running Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 4:00 pm through January 22nd, extend your holiday celebration with a magical take on Shakespeare’s gender-bending comedy of Capricious Love, Theatre Arts West casts you onto the shores of Illyria – a wondrous, timeless place that celebrates music, poetry, arts, and artists where the Duke is in love with Olivia. Olivia is in love with Cesario who is actually Viola who is in love with the Duke. Antonio loves Sebastian who is Viola’s twin brother who Olivia believes to be Cesario. Malvolio is in love with himself and a trio of misfits plot to take him down. Costumes, sections of backdrops, and set pieces painted by artists Ed Coonce, Krista Timberlake, and Gabriele Bitter will be available for purchase as visual art. Music by Alex Lopez will be available for purchase.

Movie: RAAM Documentary
January 10 at 7pm
View the newest documentary film from Race Across America (RAAM) on Tuesday, January 10th at 7:00 PM at the Brooks Theater. The evening will also include a showing of Chasing the Ghost, the story of the British/American 8-person team that set the RAAM record in 2013. In addition, Fred Boethling, President of RAAM, will be in attendance to introduce the films and answer questions about RAAM after the show. RAAM is a 3,000-mile coast-to-coast bicycle race that starts in Oceanside, CA and finishes in Annapolis, MD.

A Taste of Art: Andy Warhol

Oceanside Museum of Art is hosting a special event called, A Taste of Art: Andy Warhol. Guests are invited to enjoy appetizers, beverages, a brief presentation by Robin Douglas on Pop Art and a hands-on workshop featuring the painting and printmaking processes used by Andy Warhol. All supplies provided.

San Diego Restaurant Week
January 15-22, 2017
8 days and over 180 restaurants in San Diego County will be offering special lunch and dinner menus. This is a great opportunity to explore the buzzing dining scene in San Diego.

Train for Kids
North County Model Railroad Museum, within Heritage Park
Families are invited to the North County Model Railroad Museum every Saturday from 10am-3pm for the Trains for Kids program; welcoming children to run and the operate model trains. For additional information please contact the North County Model Railroad Society.
Live Musical Performance: Dana Louise and the Glorious Birds

Oceanside Theatre Company and TenPints Entertainment present an evening of indie folk music from Southwest Arkansas featuring Dana Louise and The Glorious Birds. Dana Louise is a new songstress astonishing audiences with her vibrant, melodic vocals, adept finger-picking and cool sound. Now touring her eponymous debut album, Dana Louise is joined by the Glorious Birds – Adams Collins (vibraphone and 5-string banjo), Ezra Idlet and Keith Grimwood (Trout Fishing in America/guitar, percussion and bass). Drawing from jazz and bluegrass and carrying a contemporary beat, the sound is roots-rooted flung-into-the-future folk.

Mission San Luis Rey
Explore the beautiful Mission San Luis Rey located right here in Oceanside. Guided walking tours are held most weekends from 1:00pm-2:00pm. The behind the scenes walking tours provide visitors the opportunity to learn more about this historic location, as well as see area not traditionally seen by the general public; including the private rose gardens and pepper tree. Saturday tours are led by MiraCosta College History Professor, Brad Byrom and Sunday tours are led by an informative Mission docent.
