Course of the Force charity relay race.

Long distances and lightsabers. Lucasfilm Ltd., Nerdist Industries and Octagon teamed up to present Course of the Force, an Olympic torch style relay run with lightsabers, where participants made a journey from Santa Monica to San Diego while benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. At quarter-mile markers (much less than 12 parsecs), participants handed off the official Hasbro Ultimate FX Course of the Force lightsaber to the next runner as they began their leg of the journey. Course of the Force took place July 7-11, the days leading up to the annual San Diego Comic Con International.

As the Course made its stops along the iconic California coast, Star Wars™-themed parties, contests and live Nerdist shows capped off each day for fans to enjoy. Runners received a Star Wars Ultimate FX lightsaber along with a number of other gifts celebrating the Force and Comic Con. The charity event even drew a number of celebrity runners like Drew Carey, Zachary Levi, Paul Scheer, and Kal Penn. However, the greatest part of the Course of the Force event is that 100% of the proceeds from runner registrations will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Day three of the event traveled through our very own Oceanside, California – making stops at the Oceanside Pier. Jedi and Sith alike came out to revel in the Course of the Force and cheer on the runners.
